As the girls varsity volleyball team’s long and moderately successful season comes to an unfortunate end, a few key players stand out for their overall value to the team and their great contributions to the success of the team. Among these noteworthy players is Freshman Alexis Genske, who has proven to be a major asset to this year’s girls varsity volleyball team. As a newcomer to Poly’s volleyball program, Genske exhibited great skill and consistency in her game and has proven to everybody that she deserves her spot as starting middle blocker for the team.
Although she is only one of two freshmen on the team, Genske fits right in with the team and has gained the love and respect of her peers. Genske has racked up one of the highest number of both blocks and hits for the team. Junior Rose Dicovitsky says, “Alexis is a great team player, she is very compatible and she is always fun to be around. She has brought so many great skills and qualities to our team. “
Genske is already planning on strategy and a training regimen for the coming season. Junior Brooke Mulligan sums up Genske’s contributions to the team by saying, “she has a really great block and is just an overall great player.” This fall, Genske revealed her great skill and constant positive attitude and tremendously contributed to the Panthers’ overall success. Genske proves to be a propitious sign for future success in the girls varsity volleyball program.
