As the girls varsity volleyball team’s long and moderately suc­cessful season comes to an un­fortunate end, a few key players stand out for their overall value to the team and their great contribu­tions to the success of the team. Among these noteworthy players is Freshman Alexis Genske, who has proven to be a major asset to this year’s girls varsity volleyball team. As a newcomer to Poly’s volleyball program, Genske ex­hibited great skill and consistency in her game and has proven to ev­erybody that she deserves her spot as starting middle blocker for the team.

While he may not get the at­tention that athletes in football or basketball do, junior Ricky Neal works just as hard. He spends two to three hours Wednesday through Sunday training for an equestrian event called show jumping, in which he and his horse must race to hurdle a course of several ob­stacles at a height of 1.4 meters (about 4.6 feet.)

Senior Jenny Lamb stands out both as an excellent athlete and a motivating leader on the cross country team. Lamb has run cross-country since her freshman year, and this year, she is ranked the number one girls runner on the Poly team.
