Dominika Watson: I relocated to Northern California with my parents when I was a senior in high school. After that one year my parents moved back and I stayed for college at Caltech.

This fall, world traveler Ann Diederich joins the Poly community as Upper School Admissions Associate Director and Spanish teacher. Originally born in Pittsburgh, Diederich moved to Melbourne, Australia at the age of ten and returned to the United States her sophomore year of high school to attend the prestigious Milton Academy in Massachusetts.

Charity Hume, ninth-grade dean and new member of the English Department, comes to Poly with an impressive resume. Before becoming a teacher, she graduated from Yale University as an undergraduate and later attended NYU for her Master of Arts in English and Creative Writing.

The Paw Print: Why did you choose to come to Poly?
Derek Weisel: My wife and I wanted to live in a place with more opportunities for both of us. Southern California has more than obliged. Poly is a great place to work and my wife is finishing her PhD in materials science at CalTech.

For Rick Thompson, a new edition to the Poly Upper School Math Department, Poly is a familiar place. Thompson, who attended Poly from the 10th to 12th grades after going to the Chandler School for elementary and middle school, returns to his alma mater to teach senior Calculus BC and sophomore Functions, Trigonometry and Advanced Algebra.
