The Paw Print: What changes do you think you can bring to the Poly community?
SS: The thing that I love about the ASB is that it’s a link between the students and the teachers. Specifically,
I love Rivalry Week because it’s a strong example of the community coming together. I would love for this strength to be shown more often through special events, student involvement in ASB activities, etc.

On March 18, 2008, an internal memorandum was circulated at Poly noting that the Rivalry Week water fight theme of “Cowboys and Indians” had been unilaterally modified by the Upper School administration due to “very proper concerns” about “the poor taste” of our selection. This demonstration, in my mind, underscores the larger problem of increasing fears of being “politically incorrect,” relating to matters as trivial as events at the school to larger themes.
